Where did it all go wrong?

Thinking back on gym class, phys ed., PE, the class you either hated or loved, whatever you want to call it – through all the years of taking it, did anyone really learn anything practical? Typically, gym classes teach the basic rules to a few sports, not that the info really sticks with us, I mean especially since people constantly debate well into adulthood whether “line” is good or not on a serve in volleyball!

In high school, we would have to go through the drama of changing in the locker room to spend like 40 minutes in a huge group class that really provided minimal benefit to us if any. Some people enjoyed the games, some just complained about how pointless the class was. I remember gym class was the best when you had it back to back with lunch, or at the beginning or end of your day . . . then you could come in late, or leave a little early!

While I was in high school, all of a sudden “health” classes came about. All we learned were about all kinds of diseases and what they look like, and how to avoid them, and how not to get things that look like the pictures in the textbook . . . Im sure some of us remember those! Still, there was no practical information.

My point is no gym class has ever taught us how to care for ourselves in the REAL WORLD! None of these classes taught us that we will be working for 8-12 hours a day leading to poor eating habits, and then leading into weight gain. None of these classes prepared us for what to do if we get fat. None of them taught us how to stay in shape! None of them taught us what is healthy and what is not! Then all of a sudden people find themselves out of shape, feeling tired and just a shadow of what they were in high school, then they join a gym and have NO CLUE WHERE TO BEGIN! . . . All those years of gym classes . .  FOR WHAT!!!

Joey’s Gym Class is designed to be the gym class we should have had. It will provide the lessons that should have been taught. It will be a source of information, and a practical guide for anyone looking toward better health. There is a ton of information out there, I will do my best to keep you current on what it takes to get you into the shape you want to be in
